Overview
To accept card payments through Ozync, you need to set up a Stripe account. Stripe handles all payment processing, and funds are deposited directly into your bank account. The setup takes about 5–10 minutes and requires basic business information.
What You'll Need
- 1
Business information
Your business name, address, and type of business
- 2
Personal identification
Your name, date of birth, and the last 4 digits of your SSN (required by Stripe for identity verification)
- 3
Bank account details
Your bank routing number and account number for receiving payouts
- 4
EIN or Tax ID (if applicable)
Required for businesses; sole proprietors can use their SSN
Enable Card Payments
First, enable card payments in the Ozync app:
- Open the Ozync app on your iPad or iPhone
- Go to Settings → Payment
- Toggle on Enable Payment Checkout
- Under Payment Methods, toggle on Card
Start Stripe Account Setup
After enabling card payments, you'll see a "Set up Stripe Account" button:
- Tap "Set up Stripe Account"
- A Stripe onboarding page will open in your browser
- You may need to create a Stripe account or sign in to an existing one
Note: Stripe will set up a full Stripe account for your business. You'll have direct access to your own Stripe Dashboard for payouts, disputes, and reports — independent of Ozync.
Complete Business Information
Stripe will ask for your business details. Fill in each section:
Business type
Select your business structure (individual/sole proprietor, LLC, corporation, etc.)
Personal details
Your legal name, date of birth, and last 4 of SSN for identity verification
Business details
Business name, address, phone number, and industry
Bank account
Where you want to receive your payouts (routing and account number)
Tip: If you need to step away, you can come back and complete the setup later. Just tap "Set up Stripe Account" again in the app — Stripe will remember where you left off.
Return to Ozync
After completing the Stripe onboarding:
- You'll be redirected back to the Ozync app automatically
- Your Stripe account status will update to show as "Active"
- If the status doesn't update immediately, tap the refresh button next to your Stripe account
Done! Your Stripe account is now connected. On an iPhone, Tap to Pay takes contactless cards right away with no extra hardware. Ozync payment terminals are also available under Settings → Hardware if you want a dedicated device for the counter.
Understanding Account Status
Pending
Stripe is reviewing your information. This usually completes within minutes but may take up to 24 hours.
Action Required
Stripe needs additional information. Tap "Complete Stripe Setup" in the app to provide the missing details.
Active
Your account is fully set up and ready to accept payments with Tap to Pay on iPhone or an Ozync payment terminal.
Managing Your Stripe Account
Once your account is active, you can access your Stripe dashboard to:
- •View your transaction history and payment details
- •Track payouts to your bank account
- •Update your bank account or business information
- •View and manage refunds
To access the dashboard, go to Settings → Payment and tap on your Stripe Account (shown as "Active").
Troubleshooting
Stripe onboarding page won't load
Make sure you have a stable internet connection. Try closing and reopening the app, then tap "Set up Stripe Account" again.
Account status stuck on "Pending"
Tap the refresh button next to your Stripe account status. If it's been more than 24 hours, contact Ozync support for assistance.
I completed setup but it still says "Action Required"
Stripe may need additional verification. Tap "Complete Stripe Setup" to see what's needed. Common requirements include uploading a photo ID or providing additional business documentation.
I'm not receiving payouts
Payouts typically take 2 business days. Check your Stripe dashboard (tap your Stripe Account in Payment settings) to verify your bank account details are correct and there are no holds on your account.
Can I use my existing Stripe account?
Yes. During onboarding, you can sign in to your existing Stripe account and connect it to Ozync — the same bank account, business info, and payout history carry over. If you don't have one yet, Stripe will walk you through creating one.
