NFC Tap-to-Join Setup

Let guests join your waitlist by tapping their phone on a sticker

Overview

An NFC sticker holds your join link. A guest holds their phone near it and your waitlist form opens — no camera, no app, no typing. It's the same form your QR code opens, so everything you've already set up works exactly the same.

Most guests find tapping easier than scanning, especially in a busy doorway. Many salons put both on the counter and let guests pick. Setup takes about 10 minutes.

What You Need

    Blank NFC stickers

    NTAG213, NTAG215, or NTAG216. A pack of ten costs a few dollars online. NTAG213 is plenty — the link is short.

    A phone with the Ozync app

    An iPhone or Android phone. Not an iPad — see the note below.

    A printer (optional)

    For the tap-here sign that sits over the sticker. You can also save it as a PDF and print it elsewhere.

Tags must be programmed from a phone. iPads have no NFC radio at all, so the Ozync app on an iPad can't write stickers even though the button is there. Open Ozync on your iPhone or Android phone to program them — then the sticker works for every guest regardless of what phone they carry.

Program the Sticker

On your phone, open Ozync and go to:

Settings → Online Booking → Signs & Tags → Program NFC Tag

  1. Tap Program NFC Tag
  2. Hold the blank sticker against the top of your phone
  3. Wait for the confirmation — that's it, the link is written

Repeat for each sticker you want. They all carry the same link, so a sticker for the front door and one for the counter behave identically.

Print the Tap Sign

In the same Signs & Tags section, tap Print NFC Tap. Send it to any AirPrint printer, or choose Save to Files for a PDF.

The sign is just paper — it carries no link. It tells guests where to tap; the sticker underneath does the work. Printing the sign without programming a sticker gives guests nothing to tap.

Stick the programmed sticker to the back of the printed sign, then place it where guests naturally stop — the counter, the front door, or beside your kiosk.

Show It on Your TV or Kiosk (Optional)

Both your TV display and your kiosk can show a Join from Phone panel that prompts guests to tap or scan. Turn on the NFC half in:

  • •TV: Settings → TV Displays → NFC Tap
  • •Kiosk: Settings → Kiosk → NFC Tap

QR and NFC each have their own switch. With both on they appear side by side with an OR between them, so guests can use whichever they prefer. Stick the physical tag near the screen — on a TV, the black bezel just under the panel works well.

What Guests Do

They hold the top of their phone near the sticker for a second. A notification slides down; they tap it and your join form opens in their browser.

  • •iPhone XR and newer: works with the screen on, no setup. Nothing to enable.
  • •Android: works when NFC is on, which is the default on most phones.
  • •No app download, no account, nothing to install.

Troubleshooting

The Program NFC Tag button says my device can't do it

You're on an iPad or a tablet without NFC hardware. Open Ozync on your phone and program the sticker there — the sticker itself works for all guests either way.

Nothing happens when the guest taps

The phone's NFC antenna is usually near the top back of the phone — have them move the top of the phone across the sticker slowly. Also check that the sticker was actually programmed, and that it isn't stuck to metal, which blocks the signal. If it must go on a metal surface, use stickers labeled "on-metal" or "anti-metal".

Can I reuse a sticker or change where it points?

Yes. Programming a sticker again overwrites it, so a tag from another business or an old link can be reprogrammed to yours.

Do I need to reprogram if I change my settings?

No. The sticker holds a permanent link to your business. Change your form fields, services, hours, or even your whole website and the same sticker keeps working.

Should I use NFC instead of my QR code?

Use both. They open the same form, and guests reach for whichever they know. QR also works from a distance — on a TV across the room — where a tag can't be reached.

Where can I buy stickers?

Search "NTAG213 NFC stickers" on Amazon or any electronics retailer. Blank, adhesive-backed, round or square — all fine. Avoid pre-programmed or "locked" tags, which can't be written.
