Overview
Gift cards in Ozync are digital: a card is a code with a balance, sent by email or shown as a QR code, and redeemed at checkout. There's nothing to print or stock, and a client can spend a card over several visits.
The page is More → Gift Cards in the app and Gift Cards (under Payments) in the ozync.com sidebar. Issuing, scanning and redeeming work in both places; the switches for online sales, the client pass and loyalty rewards are on ozync.com.
Gift cards, the client pass and loyalty are part of the paid plan.
Issue a Card at the Counter
Gift Cards → Issue a card
Take payment the way you normally do — cash, card, whatever — then issue the card: the amount, who it's for, and optionally their email, who it's from and a message.
- •With an email, the card is sent to the recipient right away. Without one, the card's link and QR code are on the page to share however you like.
- •Pick the recipient from your client list and the card is attached to them — it shows up on their client pass (below).
Redeem
Gift Cards → Redeem → enter the code, or Scan card
Type the code from the client's card, or tap Scan card in the app and point the camera at the QR on their phone. Enter the amount to take off; whatever is left stays on the card for next time.
Every card's history — issued, redeemed, remaining — is in the list at the bottom of the page, and the tiles at the top show your unused balance and active cards.
Sell Gift Cards Online
ozync.com → Gift Cards → Sell gift cards online
Switch it on and you get a gift card page for your business. Share the link, or put its QR code at the counter. Buyers choose an amount from your quick picks (set them on the same page), pay by card, and the card is emailed to the recipient.
The money goes to your Stripe account like any other card payment, so online sales need Stripe connected — see Stripe Account Setup. Businesses on Square still use Stripe for this one.
Give a Client Credit
Gift Cards → Add credit
A make-good for a visit that went wrong, a referral thank-you, a birthday — pick the client, enter the amount and a reason. It's credit at no charge to them, it goes on their pass, and it's spent at checkout exactly like a gift card.
The Client Pass
ozync.com → Gift Cards → Offer the client pass
One Apple Wallet pass per client for your business. It shows their visit count, the balance of any gift cards and credit attached to them, and their next appointment — and it updates on its own whenever any of that changes.
- •Clients add it themselves: an Add to Apple Wallet link appears on their waitlist and booking status page once the switch is on.
- •Gift cards and credit are matched to the client by phone number, so a card issued to "the client in chair 2" shows up on their pass the moment you pick them from the list.
- •Apple Wallet only for now. Google Wallet is on the list.
Loyalty Rewards
ozync.com → Gift Cards → Loyalty rewards
A punch card without the card: "every N visits, a reward of X". A visit counts once per day when you mark the client served, so a client who books two services in one afternoon gets one punch. On the Nth visit the reward is issued as credit automatically and shows on their pass, and the count starts over.
The pass shows "3 of 6 visits" instead of a plain visit count while loyalty is on, so clients can see how close they are.
Troubleshooting
The code says "not found"
Codes are per business — a card bought from another salon on Ozync won't redeem at yours. Check for a mistyped letter, or scan the QR instead.
The card didn't arrive by email
Open the card in the list and resend it, or copy its link and send it yourself. Ask the recipient to check spam.
A gift card isn't on the client's pass
Cards attach to a client when you pick them from the list while issuing, or when an online buyer's recipient email matches a client. A card issued to a typed name with no client chosen stays standalone — it still redeems by code.
Can I refund a gift card?
Online purchases are refunded from your Stripe dashboard; void the card on the Gift Cards page so the balance can't be spent. Counter sales were paid outside Ozync, so refund them the way you took the money.
