What the TV shows

The display is your waitlist, large enough to read from a chair across the room, in your business's colors.

  • Walk-ins in order, by first name and last initial, with when they joined or an estimated wait.
  • Today's appointments in a second column, so a booked client sees their time is on the board.
  • Per-stylist queues when clients pick a stylist at check-in, so a regular sees exactly where they are for their barber.
  • A QR code in the corner, if you want, so someone who walks in can join from their own phone without touching the kiosk.
  • Your business name and the time; the theme follows the kiosk theme you pick.

Why it changes the room

A waiting room without a board runs on interruptions. Someone asks how long, a stylist stops mid-service to count, the answer is a guess, and the next person asks the same thing. With the queue on the TV the answer is on the wall. Clients relax, staff stop being interrupted, and the ones who are fourth in line go get a coffee instead of hovering at the desk.

It also sets expectations honestly. A client who sees six names ahead of them can decide to wait or come back, which is better for both of you than a shrug at the counter.

Setting it up

Linking a TV takes about two minutes and no cables beyond the stick.

  1. 1Install the Ozync Waitlist app on an Amazon Fire TV Stick, or on a Samsung or LG smart TV, and open it. A browser on any screen works too: open ozync.com/display.
  2. 2The screen shows a six-digit code.
  3. 3In Ozync, open TV Displays and enter the code. Give the display a name, like Waiting room.
  4. 4The TV switches to your waitlist and stays linked; if it reboots, it comes straight back.
  5. 5Add more TVs the same way. Each one can show the whole room or a single stylist's queue.

What you control

  • Show or hide appointments, the estimated wait and the QR code.
  • Theme: the same color themes as the kiosk, so the room matches.
  • Which queue a display shows: everyone, or one stylist or barber.
  • Unlink a display from Ozync at any time; the TV returns to the pairing code.

Hardware

Any TV with an HDMI port works with a Fire TV Stick. Samsung and LG smart TVs run the Ozync Waitlist app directly from their app stores. There is no Ozync hardware to buy, though we can ship a configured stick and a tap-to-join sign if you'd rather not set it up yourself.

The display downloads what it needs once and then only listens for changes, so it is light on your Wi-Fi.

What hardware do I need for the TV queue display?

Does the queue update in real time?

Yes. The display listens for changes, so a client who joins at the kiosk appears on the TV within a second, and moves up the moment someone is served.

Can it show appointments as well as walk-ins?

Yes. Today's appointments show in a second column next to the walk-ins, and you can turn that off if you only take walk-ins.

Can I show ads, promos, or videos alongside the queue?

The TV app can rotate signage images and videos alongside the queue, in the Ozync app's TV Displays settings.

Does this work for barbershops and beauty studios, not just hair salons?

Yes. The TV display shows a per-stylist or per-barber queue for barbershops, a single line for threading and brow bars, and today's appointments alongside walk-ins for nail and lash studios. Anywhere with a waiting area and a TV.

Does the TV display require its own subscription?

No. It is included with Ozync at no extra cost, on as many TVs as you like.

Can I run it on multiple TVs?

Yes. Link each one with its own code. A display can show the whole room or a single stylist's queue.

What if the TV reboots or loses Wi-Fi?

It stays linked and comes back to your waitlist on its own. You never re-enter the code unless you unlink the display in Ozync.
