Where they differ
Squire's plans and features change; check getsquire.com for the current details. Checked 31 October 2026. The structural difference is the direction of the software: Squire turns a walk-in into an appointment at the next open slot, and sells the kiosk, waitlist and staff tools from the shop plans up; Ozync treats the walk-in as a line, puts it on the TV, and includes every feature at one flat price.
| Feature | Ozync | Squire |
|---|---|---|
| Built around | Walk-ins: kiosk, live queue, TV display, texts; booking alongside | Appointments: booking links, Google and Instagram booking, branded app, POS |
| Self check-in kiosk | Included on every plan; iPad or Android tablet, your theme; the client picks a barber or first available and joins the live queue | Walk-In Booking Kiosk on an iPad, on the shop plans; a kiosk booking creates an appointment for a specific time (see help.getsquire.com) |
| Walk-in waitlist | A live per-barber queue in order of arrival, with Notify and Served in one tap | A waitlist for clients who want an opening when a booked barber has a cancellation (see help.getsquire.com) |
| Queue on the waiting-room TV | Included | Not listed |
| QR code and NFC tap signs | Included; clients join the line or book from their own phone | Booking links, Google and Instagram booking |
| Pricing | Flat $15/mo billed annually or $20 month to month, every feature, unlimited barbers; free for your first 25 clients | Four plans by shop size, priced per shop per month, no per-barber fees; kiosk, waitlist and staff tools start on the shop plans; a client-side booking fee is listed (see getsquire.com/pricing) |
| Online booking | On your own website, with deposits and a cancellation policy | Included: booking links, no-show protection, branded app |
| Digital waivers | Included, linked to services, signed on the kiosk | A pre-appointment intake waiver is documented; general service waivers not listed |
| Checkout, tips, receipts | Stripe with Tap to Pay, or keep your Square or Clover | Squire's own POS: Tap to Pay, card readers, Rapid Transfer |
| Gift cards, packages, memberships, wallet pass | Included | Digital gift cards and a loyalty program on the top plan |
| Commissions and booth rent | Time clock with hourly rates; no commission or rent collection | Commission and rent collection on the higher plans |
| Your own website | Included, ten templates, your own domain | Branded landing page as an add-on; branded website and branded app on the top plan |
| AI phone receptionist | Add-on, flat $49.99/mo with 250 minutes | Operator, powered by SQUIRE AI, as an add-on |
| Marketplace | None; your clients are yours | Clients can find and book barbers in the SQUIRE app; Squire says clients are not shown to other businesses |
What a walk-in shop needs
- A kiosk at the door where a client taps her barber, or first available, and is in the queue in ten seconds, with no account and no app.
- The queue on the TV, per barber, so nobody asks "how many ahead of me?" and nobody argues about the order.
- A text or WhatsApp when it's her turn, so she can wait in the car or the shop next door.
- The checkout at the chair the moment she is served: services, tip, card, text receipt, on Stripe or the Square or Clover you already have.
- Online booking on your own site for the clients who do book ahead, with a deposit if you want one, and the two kinds of client in one list.
- One flat price for the whole shop. Six barbers cost the same as two, and a Saturday with 80 walk-ins costs the same as a Tuesday with 8.
What Squire does that Ozync doesn't
Squire goes deeper on the business side of a large shop: commission calculation and payouts, booth rent collection, inventory with purchase orders, a branded client app, and a multi-location brand plan with dedicated account management. A shop that pays barbers on commission or collects rent through the software, or a brand with several locations and a dedicated app, may need that. Ozync has staff accounts, a time clock with hourly timesheets, reports and a daily recap, and stops short of payroll.
Moving over
- 1Create your business in Ozync and add your services, staff and hours, about ten minutes. Import your client list from a CSV export.
- 2Put the kiosk on a tablet at the door and the TV display on the wall; walk-ins are handled from day one.
- 3Publish your Ozync website and point your Instagram and Google Business Profile booking link at it.
- 4Keep your old account live until the bookings have moved; nothing in Ozync depends on cancelling it.
